Opened in Nancy for the first time in March 2022, Livres d'Ailleurs is a literary event called to alternate from year to year editions dedicated to Africa and the East. The 2022 edition – dedicated to the Book of Africa – echoes the Désir d'Afrique event deployed in Nancy by a collective of associations.

Who arewe?
Livres d'Ailleurs is supported by the DIWAN association in Lorraine, in partnership with the International Alliance of Independent Publishers (collective of 750 publishing houses in 55 countries), the booksellers of Nancy, the Jules Verne media library in Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy and the Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture (MJC) Lillebonne in Nancy.
This proposal has the active support of the city of Nancy, the Métropole du Grand Nancy, the Department of Meurthe-et-Moselle and the Grand Est Region.
With Livres d'Ailleurs, we want to broaden literary horizons and familiarize the public with other imaginaries.
Our ambition is to make this new international literary event an
expected, open and inclusive annual event.
This is a first in France and we are delighted to develop this new format that puts Africa in the spotlight in Nancy, from 4 to 6 March 2022, in the prestigious Hôtel du Département de Meurthe et Moselle.

History of the show
This event follows the 1st Salon du Livre du Monde Arabe in Nancy, organized in November-December 2019 by a collective of Nancy-based associations including Diwan in Lorraine.
The success of this first meeting highlighted the public's interest in new literary horizons, and led us to complete and diversify the cultural offer in our region.
The 2022 edition will put Africa in the spotlight and will be part of a highlight entitled Désirs d'Afrique.
The public will meet about thirty authors and cartoonists.
Some live and write in Africa, others live in France; they are published by African and French publishing houses.
