President of Diwan in Lorraine

Coming to study in France in the eighties, I settled there and started a family. Computer scientist within a large banking group, I am also an associate professor at the University of Lorraine. Diwan in Lorraine was born from a beautiful meeting, marked by respect and exchanges, between friends from the southern shore of the Mediterranean and others from the north. The time spent listening to each other, understanding and sharing our cultures has given rise to unwavering bonds of friendship and solidarity. They have endured and strengthened, along our student, professional, parental and now associative careers. We wanted to create, thanks to our association, spaces for exchanges to bring together universes on a bet: culture is the essential ferment for knowledge and respect for the Other. Livres d’Ailleurs is for us a magnificent opportunity to open minds to new literary horizons, other imaginaries. Today, the support of our elected officials, partners, friends and volunteers in this project obliges us, just as their trust honors us. And it is with immense joy that we are building this new international event, dedicated to Books from Elsewhere in our region.
