Nadia Khiari is a visual arts teacher, painter and cartoonist of the Franco-Tunisian press. She created the character of Willis from Tunis during the Tunisian revolution in January 2011. This character, mischievous and mocking cat, chronicles the news of his country but also international news on social networks, for Siné Mensuel and Courrier international. He has been the subject of several albums including Willis from Tunis, 10 years old and still alive! (Elyzad, 2020), in 290 drawings that tell, without detours, Tunisia since the revolution. Nadia Khiari is active in various associations including Cartooning for Peace – created by Plantu and Kofi Annan – and holds an honorary doctorate from the Université Libre de Liège. She has also received the Honoré Daumier Prize in Caen (2012), the International Prize for Political Satire in Forte dei Marmi (2014), the Agora Med Prize for Mediterranean Intercultural Dialogue in Genoa (2015), the “Couilles au cul” prize at the Off-of-Off festival in Angoulême (2016), the cartoonists’ prize on the theme “Vive les Femmes” at the Festival traits d’humour in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat (2017), as well as the Sokol Prize awarded by the Krems Caricature Museum (2018).
